Spooky Chic Halloween Decorating Ideas
Elevating your Halloween decor can be the key to liking it. I said can be.
I don’t typically like full blown horror and gore, but spooky chic I might can vibe with. I was snooping around and trying to find some ideas of what I think when I think of boo-gie Halloween (see what I did there? Man I’m obnoxious).
Anyhoo, check out these ideas!
All Black Errything (or Purple…and Green if you want)
When it comes to color, forget the neons. Too loud for ya girl.
Embrace the darker, more grown folk shades. Think ebony, deep plum, and forest green. Props if you can somehow throw in some color drenching.
Then, sprinkle some metallic accents and voila – sophisticated af.
Now if you have color in your home, do not fret, my pet. Nothing wrong with a lil’ blush pink! It can be super fun for a stylish Halloween decor backdrop!
Layer Your Fears with Texture
We bought a back velvet sofa for our mountain house Airbnb and it lives rent free in my head. I LOVE it so much.
Velvet and lace are our allies when it comes to Halloween decor – they’re moody, they’re dramatic, and they scream elegance. Much like me, minus the elegance part lolz.
Bold Floral Arrangements
Y’all know I’m all about flowers and plants – killing them I mean lolz. But they add life to any room.
For Halloween, we gotta embrace the dark side. Dried branches, thorny stems, and black leaves can be used to create a striking floral arrangement that will definitely make a statement.
You could even stick them in an urn (not filled with ashes btw) as a vase for the extra creepy value.
Deadly Delicious Charcuterie
More like charCUTErie, am I right??
If you’re hosting a Halloween party for grown ups, find a coffin or skull shaped serving board and it takes it up a notch easily!
Theme Your Glassware
Instead of just using regular glasses for your Halloween party, why not have some fun and theme them out?
Grab some skeleton wine glasses and fill ’em up with your fave red wine to make them look nice and gross in the best way. It’s basically the adult version of trick-or-treating.
Put Class in Your Pumpkins
Regular ol’ Jack-o’-lanterns are out when it comes to spooky chic Halloween decor.
Dress your pumpkins in dark paints or lace, or perhaps make them velvet! Spooky chic pumpkins don’t spook; they make a statement.
Bathroom Decor
This doesn’t have to be crazy. Even small touches like a black hand towel, some faux spider webs, or a spooky scented candle can elevate your bathroom to match the rest of your spooky chic decor.
Bonus points if you have a creepy antique mirror as an accent piece.
Gothic Prints
Gothic prints in ornate frames would put a twist on your classic wall decor, making it fit for a vampire’s den.
You don’t even have to buy new frames! You can thrift them and add some Rub n Buff on them or have them look distressed and vintage for that little extra spook and chic.
Dia De Los Muertos
I always think of the movie Coco when I hear Dia De Los Muertos now because of Collins. Who adores that movie.
Embrace the beautiful and colorful tradition of Dia De Los Muertos by incorporating sugar skull decor into your spooky chic theme. It adds a touch of culture and whimsy to your Halloween decor.
Just remember this is a sacred tradition so you should only do this if you’re willing to honor what it means. I don’t make the rules.
Mannequin on Point
Hear me out.
If you can handle not getting creeped TF OUT, this could be super awesome. But I don’t trust myself to not freak out and start swinging on this thing in the middle of the night forgetting I have it set up.
BUT you can adorn it with pearls or chic clothing, and it will be the most fashionable person in your house, while also freaking out your spouse/children/neighbors.
Eerie Elegance with Floral Arrangements
Opt for dark roses and purple lilies, and stick in some dried dead branches.
Suddenly your bouquet has a “hauntingly beautiful” vibe. Tres chic.
Kids’ Bedrooms
There’s no bigger fans of Halloween than kids.
If yours are like mine, they can easily get spooked but they’re also fascinated by all things creepy. Pick a lane, kid.
You don’t have to go overboard, just switch out their usual bedding for some Halloween themed ones, or hang a few bat or ghost cutouts on the walls.
Dine with Dracula
I’ve always dreamt of doing fabulous tablescapes. I did a fun one for kids that got destroyed about 24 seconds after I took the photos telling you fine people how to do it, but alas.
However, for a Halloween chic tablescape, swap bright colors with dark linens and metallic cutlery. Gothic dishware and crystal glasses, and voila! You are dining with Dracula.
This Halloween trend is all about blending sophistication with eeriness. And hey, who says you can’t celebrate Halloween with a touch of class?
