(Teeny Tiny) Entry Makeover
I don’t like talking about it because it makes me sad, but the double doors that were part of the reason I fell in love with this house, WERE A SHAM. One of the doors is fake. Which just took my dreams of a huge entry way with a bench and fun entry way things and sent them straight to the ol’ wood chipper.
See what I mean? *tears of 1,000 angels* When I first saw it, I was so willing to lose that entry closet and the other hall closet, B U T the reality is there is also a guest bedroom and its closet too that I would have to lose and that means lose a bedroom by resale standards and I just can’t do that. At least not right now. So, until we can knock down the wall leading in to our living room, a small entry way will have to do. Which just means we had to get creative when I decided I was tired of just throwing Char’s backpack and my purse on the floor or kitchen table.
Take a gander at this blank canvas!
Since I know you’ve never missed a post, I’m sure you didn’t miss where we talked about our easy and cheap version of board and batten. While this wasn’t in the hallway and technically this wall is in our kitchen, it is like the “start” of the hallway if that makes sense. It’s what you seen when you round the corner from the entry and turn to go down the hall. Whatever. You don’t care. You’re just here to see what we did.
It all started because I saw everyone and their cousins getting these hooks from Hobby Lobby:
I thought they were going to be perfect, but when I saw them in person they were HUGE. I mean
We didn’t have enough real estate on this wall for those big boys. So, instead we opted for these guys (affiliate) at Target:I loved that they were smaller and I loved that they had a slot where I can (eventually) put some labels there.
All we did was find where we wanted the hook to land on the 1×4 and marked a line so that the hooks would sit under it.
Then, we just drilled and attached all our hooks!
That’s all there was to it! Now, we have a place for us to drop backpacks, purses, rain jackets while they dry or anything else we dang well please cuz they’re our hooks!
If your entry way is comedically small like ours, pin this to save it for yourself:
