Backyard Deck Ideas with a Fire Pit
Create a backyard oasis that’ll be the envy of all your neighbors and friends, while being the new family outdoor hangout with these brilliant ideas!

DESIGN AND DECOR
We have both a deck and a screened in porch on our house.
The screened in porch is what sold me on the house, but it’s a little bit in shambles after our kitchen renovation since we closed in our bay window.
We had to completely redo our deck recently since Jordan fell through it, but we paid to have it done since we were on a bit of a time crunch.

I’m DETERMINED to make it a cozy family hangout spot for this spring and summer so I’ve been doing some digging about the best ways to jazz it up with a fire pit and I’m sharing all those ideas with you fine people today!
Back Deck Firepit Ideas
Minimalistic Metal Fire Pit

If you have a low backyard deck, fill a gap in the center with rocks.
Then use a minimalistic metal fire pit perched on the stones, like a simple copper bowl.
You can arrange seating on the deck around the pit through benches, chairs, or with artfully arranged cushions for a huge impact with simple style.
Built-In Bench Circling Fire Pit

Metal firepits are great for producing heat that radiates around the space while keeping embers and fire inside a broad bowl.
If you’ve got little ones around, you’ll definitely want a cover of some sort and also teach them rules for being around fire.
A simple curved bench on your deck can also provide plenty of seating for cozy gatherings with the fam.
Upscale Modern Stone Fire Pit

This is from a ski chalet and it’s making me drool right now thinking of the potential of mountain house.
I love that this is the perfect mix of modern and cozy and the fire runs down the center of the table so that you can still feel the heat without feeling like it’s all in your face.
Seriously, I can’t stop staring at this deck.
Fire Pit with Modern Black and White Palette

I feel like out of all the photos that I found, this one represents us the most.
I also think this is one of the more kid friendly backyard deck fire pits I’ve seen in our little list.
Neutral light furniture adds contrast against dark hardware, pillows in black and black patterns add rich pops of color, and light upholstery accents modern black metal chairs.
You can tone down the richness of a wood deck with an outdoor carpet and top it with a modern concrete fire pit like this one with a sleek glass surround.
Drop the Pit to Add Dimension to Large Areas

If you got it flaunt it, ya know?
If have a large space for your backyard deck, you can break the area into defined sections to add visual interest.
For example, make your deck two-tier with a drop-down seating area for your fire pit to add an interesting dimension.
Throw in a long rectangular modern gas fire pit and you’ll have to force your friends to leave.
Sunken Seating with Rustic Backyard Deck Fire Pit

Ummmm hello gorgeous.
A sunken backyard fire pit space adds privacy and intimacy.
Simple wood planking can be used to build out a square fire pit, and a darker trim will help contrast the darker tones of the padded plank seating.
Try a Propane Pit

When you have a multi-tonal backyard deck, pairing your design with furniture in a pale neutral palette can create a subtle boho aesthetic.
And to add privacy, you can run white-painted slatting horizontally and incorporate panel curtains to create boundary placements with your space.
Open-frame metal chairs in white complement the pale wood tones of the carved wood tables and the smoky gray of the circular concrete propane fire pit.
