Easiest Way To Design Birthday Invitations
You can design your own birthday invitations easily using Basic Invite, or you can choose from some of their own super cute templates. Great for a birthday of any age!
I’m having a hard time reconciling the fact I am about to have a one year old. Our sweet Josiah came home with us on his two week old birthday and our worlds were all changed for the best.
Throw in another 10 months, we are now chubbier, teeth-ier, and walk-ier. And before we knew it, it was time for me to come up with some boy first birthday party ideas.
For Charlotte, her first birthday was bird themed. I created her invite from scratch. Do you want to know why it was bird themed?
Take a look at her right hand. That’s right. The kid FROM BIRTH had the incredible ability to sneak a bird into hundreds of photos we took, professional and not. Think I’m kidding? Check out the gallery wall we had at her party.
But don’t worry, we loved Jesus then too so we based it off scripture.
Yup. Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 6:26. I digress. Let’s get back to the task at hand. Our little man’s first birthday!
How To Design Birthday Invitations With Basic Invite
Choose a birthday template
Let me just say, the quality that you can find at Basic Invite really is like no other. I’ve designed a LOT of invites from other places, and they’re good, but I feel like they’re not unique if that makes sense. I dare ya to take a scroll through some of them!
HOWEVER, I’m all about designing my own and if you’ve been around for a while, you know the first piece of art in Josiah’s nursery was made by yours truly and was rap lyrics.
So, I couldn’t get the thought of having a rap themed first birthday. I need to take time out to thank Biggie Smalls for this inspiration. I whipped these up in Photoshop and decided to use the easy uploader to create these.
(Bonus points if you know the album cover that inspired this design. Also, no, I am not a Photoshop pro by any means but a little bit of YouTube and, like, just about 4 days of trying to get the right photograph and you too can be an “expert” in anything.)
They just came in the mail the other day and they are PERFECT! Also, the paper quality is TOP NOTCH and I didn’t even do anything special, just the cheapest one they had which is their signature matte.
How To Design Other Invitations
Now, y’all know I’m not a newlywed, BUT y’all also hopefully know I’m nosey and couldn’t help myself just looking at what else they offered. I had a flashback to making my own wedding invitations and how miserable of a process that was, but Basic Invite takes so much work out of it!
How? 3 words.
Address collecting service.
Funny story, cleaning out my Google Drive this week I found the spreadsheet we used to collect OVER 300 ADDRESSES by hand. Then I had PTSD flashbacks of sitting at a computer and trying to get them to print in the perfect font on the perfect place on the envelope. NO THANK YOU.
Basic Invite lets you make your guests enter their address and you can simply let them print your envelopes for you. There are other great features they have like couple wedding websites or even things like personalized coasters for wedding favors. If you’re in the market for wedding invites, I feel your best bet for the best wedding invitations online is Basic Invite!
I will say that I love the option to design birthday invitations online. It’s not for everybody and because of the parties Charlotte wanted the past 2 years, I actually found some that were PERFECT to use for her and it was way easier. But if you’re a creative like me, sometimes it’s better to design the birthday invitations on your own or have a close friend do them! Especially for a boy first birthday!
Tell me – would any of you be interested in me posting about tips to throw a first birthday on a budget or just see what other ideas I have for this theme? I promise you I have a lot and they’re all awesome.

Dearest Carmen, I signed up to receive your fun blog posts a while ago. And I never get them delivered! And I need to enjoy your posts! I am not sure what the scoop is, but something is afoot. I’d hate to think other folks were not getting your postings. Perhaps a big group of us are being denied the pleasure of your creativity! Just thought you’d want to know. Your avid reader, Laura
