Discover the Charm and Elegance of Modern Mexican Home Exteriors
Listen to me when I tell you that Collins Rose is a different breed of a kid.
Not only is she the only one of our kids with a dimple (that I’m so in love with) but she’s also been obsessed with Disney characters somehow when our older 2 were NOT.
But this girl doesn’t discriminate. She loves them ALL. Cinderella, Anna, Elsa, Moana, Tiana, Rapunzel, et ceteraaaa.
But Encanto has a special place in her heart. We have been Encanto obsessed for almost a year now; even had a 3rd birthday celebration Encanto style!
Of course the casita is the main dwelling of the Family Madrigal, and although they’re in Colombia, it had me exploring real life casita home exteriors for no other reason than they’re gorgeous.
Elements of Modern Mexican Architecture
More Muted Colors
Traditional Mexican homes often times are in bright colors, but many modern Mexican or Spanish style homes now use more muted colors such as cream, beige, and soft yellows.
This creates a more elegant and sophisticated look while still maintaining the charm of Mexican architecture.
Natural Materials
These homes often use natural materials like clay tiles, adobe, and stone, adding texture and depth to the exterior.
Not only do these materials look great, but they’re also eco-friendly since they’re often times locally sourced and sustainable.
Innovative Design Concepts
While traditional elements are essential to keep the feel, modern Mexican architecture also embraces innovative design concepts.
Things like open floor plans, large windows, and indoor-outdoor living spaces are common features that enhance functionality and create a seamless connection with the outdoors.
Tips for Incorporating Modern Mexican Elements into Your Home
Choose a Simple Color Palette
Don’t be afraid to experiment with vibrant colors for accents and decor, but when it comes to choosing a paint color, stick to neutrals and more muted tones.
This will allow the architecture to stand out and let you change up your decor as little or as often as you’d like!
Incorporate Natural Materials
Incorporating natural materials such as stone, wood, and clay can add texture and warmth to your home. Think gorgeous Spanish style tile backsplashes or tile flooring in bathrooms or laundry rooms!
You could even consider using them for your outdoor spaces as well.
Create Indoor-Outdoor Living Spaces
The beauty of the climate in Mexico is its sun and warmth. To recreate this look in your own Spanish style home, think about adding large windows, sliding glass doors, or a covered patio to create a connection with the outdoors.
This will not only enhance the functionality of your home but also create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere and it’s great for entertaining!
Future Trends in Mexican Home Exteriors
Smart Home Technology
The integration of smart home technology is another trend that is gaining popularity.
Things like automated lighting and climate control to security systems and entertainment. Smart technology enhances the functionality and convenience of modern homes.
Biophilic Design
Biophilic design, which emphasizes the connection between humans and nature, is also making its way into modern Spanish architecture.
This trend incorporates natural elements such as plants, water features, and natural light to create calming and restorative living environments.
But this can also mean having a ton of floor to ceiling windows/doors that can open to to create an indoor/outdoor entertaining space.
By incorporating these elements into your home, you can create a space that is both beautiful and functional.
