What Color is Sherwin Williams Rosemary?

Sherwin Williams Rosemary (SW 6187) is a beautiful cool paint color that can add a touch of fancy schmancy to any room.
It’s a muted green with hints of gray, which makes it super unique.
If you like a neutral color palette, Rosemary pairs really well with neutrals like white and beige, and can also be paired with other muted colors like soft blues or grays.
You definitely will want to see this on your walls in your specific space, and if you don’t want to paint a sample on your wall, this would be the perfect time to try peel and stick paint samples from Samplize.
They offer giant peel-and-stick samples of paint swatches you can add to your wall, so you can spend a little bit of money once instead of a lot of money on multiple samples.
When we were attempting to figure out the color we wanted for Josiah’s beadboard accent wall for his new room refresh we are working on, I tried out 2 options and wrote all about the pros and cons of Samplize here.
What Undertones Does Sherwin Williams Rosemary Have?
Rosemary is a pretty saturated green with heavy gray undertones.
The undertones aren’t incredibly strong, but you will definitely want to make sure you pair it with cooler paint color since it’s also a cool paint color.
Rosemary LRV
A paint color’s LRV, or Light Reflectance Value, is on a sliding scale of 1 to 100.
The closer a color is to 0, the closer it is to black, which means it won’t reflect light well or at all.
The close a color is to 100, the closer it is to white, which means it will reflect light very well.

I made this (super non-professional) graphic to hopefully help you understand if you’re more of a visual learner.
SW Rosemary has a low LRV of 14. So, your color will vary in appearance and intensity based on the lighting.
Use care when working with a darker, low LRV paint color in rooms that are small, cluttered, or lacking in strong lighting, especially a natural source like windows.
Sherwin Williams Rosemary Coordinating Colors
Sometimes even harder than finding a paint color is finding colors that will go well with it in your space. Here are some of my top picks of a color palette that would go great with Rosemary.

SW Snowbound
Snowbound isn’t known as the most versatile Sherwin Williams paint color, this can actually be a really great option for pairing with Rosemary
SW Cavern Clay
This color is an incredibly unique clay/terracotta paint color which is gaining in popularity (or making a resurgence) and could pair very nicely for a real cool boho natural vibe.
SW Status Bronze
Status Bronze isn’t a paint color that you see everywhere, but I have been seeing a lot of darker, rich brown paint colors around and I’m LOVING it.
I think Status Bronze could be an incredible color to pair with Rosemary as painted accent pieces or a room adjacent to your space painted with Rosemary.

Rosemary Equivalents In Other Popular Paint Color Brands
Benjamin Moore Equivalent to Rosemary
It’s nearly impossible to find exact paint matches between brands, but you can usually find close comparisons.

Benjamin Moore Backwoods is the closest thing to Rosemary that is out there.
Ben Moore Backwoods (BM CC-630) is definitely warmer so if you like the idea of Rosemary, but would rather a warmer shade of green, Backwoods may be the better option for you.

I talked about Benjamin Moore Backwoods in my post all about the best dark green paint colors and it’s GORGEOUS!
Behr Equivalent to Rosemary
The closest Behr equivalent to Rosemary is Bonsai Trunk.

This shade has more of a gray saturation than Rosemary.
Rosemary leans heavy on its gray undertones, but Behr seems to be almost a deep gray with green undertones. So almost the opposite, but somehow coming out with a similar color.
I would go with Behr if you’re not wanting it to feel too green or if you have west facing windows.
Final Thoughts
Sherwin Williams Rosemary is a paint color that effortlessly brings a touch of calmness and a little bit of outdoors to any room in your home.
It is super versatile and has an ability to complement whatever design style you have in your home – we are in the transitional style over here, but this would also be great with Japandi, traditional, Scandinavian, modern, farmhouse, ALLLL OF THEMMMM.
This makes Rosemary the most perfect choice for those seeking a timeless yet refreshing look.
Happy painting!
