It is not a secret at all that I’m NOT a green thumb. 90% of our plants are fake in this house.

This guy from our office? Fake.

These guys in our guest bathroom? Fakeeeee.

Fiddle leaf fig in Josiah’s nursery. Say it with me all together now. Faaaaakkkkeeee!

I even hung this super cute (YET FAKE) plant on the outside of our daughter’s playhouse makeover. But lemme tell ya – we have a strong willed four year old who is determined to be a gardener. At this point, there’s a lot I’ll give on to spare me some toddler meltdowns. HELP ME JESUS if she’s this emotional at four, we got us a long road ahead for these pre-teen and teenage years. Y’all just pray, okay? I love her and I love that she’s so sensitive and compassionate but sometimes her not knowing how to express those emotions just comes out as a giant pout fest.

I digress. All that to say, the girl wanted a “garden.” So, we planted her some flowers in pots and told her that it’s her job to go water the flowers near her house and she LOVES it. She got a watering can that’s her size from her grandma. Only one problem.

She was not-so-low-key ugly. But by this point, you guys know how much we love spray paint so I’ll give you 1 guess what I decided to do.

I wanted to make this match her playhouse so I decided to paint the entire thing black and have some pink accents like her door since it’s one of my favorite parts of that sweet little thing.

I scored some free Frog Tape at the Haven bloggers conference last weekend, so I thought I’d try it! After I spray painted the pink parts, I taped them off and then sprayed the rest of it black.

Also those sweet little gloves? I got those for free at the Haven Conference too. And want to know a secret? I have child sized hands. As in my wedding ring is 4 1/2 and it’s a little big on me. So NOTHING fits me so I was SHOCKED when I tried these on and only a couple fingers were too long! If you’re wondering, they’re Digz brand and you can find them at Home Depot!

This is a fun modern twist on an outdated watering can and has made our 4 year old gardener to be so super happy which makes me happy.

    1. Listen, I’m not real sure where my life would be without black spray paint or spray paint in general, ya know??

  1. Pink and black are so pretty together and it’s perfect! I have a watering can that needs to be painted, but I just haven’t got to it.

    1. It’s a super quick project! 🙂 I might have done some things differently had I done it again, but she loves it and for me I’m okay with that!

    1. For sure! I may have done the opposite color scheme but I was just afraid that pink wouldn’t cover the super dark flowers and regardless, she loves it so I’m good with that haha

  2. What a cute idea to paint it to match her playhouse! No doubt she’s a happy little gardener! I’m with you on fake flowers. I have lots of them, too.
