Painting Kitchen Cabinets: The Saga Continues

Tell all ya friends and neighbors!

We went with painting our kitchen cabinets white! You can find sources and a still “to do” list at the bottom of this post.

I promised you guys that I would show you our cabinets when the uppers were painted. We painted our lowers already, so catch up there first to get the real feelings behind how this actually went. Well, now it’s complete and for the uppers, we went with painting those kitchen cabinets white. They’ve been painted a little while, but then we had the task of putting on our drawer handles which involved a LOT of complex math (aka. husband brain).

I have to admit that when we first talked about painting kitchen cabinets white, I was not a fan. Especially uppers. They will be dirty all the time I thought. Well, truthfully, they’re not! Not any more so than the others. Probably because our toddler can’t reach the white ones so that’s a plus.

However, it’s a completed project so hooray for that … Except is any project ever “completed”?

I know you can’t tell, but on the refrigerator wall, we actually moved the cabinets up about an inch. So, there’s a break in the caulk near the wall, but that’s a super easy fix.

We do have one blank wall between the fridge and the opening to our living room that I do anticipate doing something with.I’m thinking maybe a big craft paper roll to write fun things on and trash bins inside of a wooden container something like this:

Also, for what it’s worth, I DESPISE these laminate floors. It’s actually THREE layers of laminate floors and they ALWAYS look dirty. No matter how much I mop/clean/cry. We also clearly need to finish baseboards in here. I can’t do it all people!

  • Add island

What do you guys think? Did we make a mistake by painting the kitchen cabinets white? Just so you know, we most likely won’t be changing them even if you all tell me the answer is yes, so there.
